The first quarter of 2023 has already provided an incredibly hot start to the new year for budding UK singer/songwriter Caitlin Mae.

The Who’s Hoo Country Music Awards named her their Entertainer of the Year, she was crowned Social Star’s Spotlight Artist of the Year, and her last single “Fiona” debuted in the #1 position on the singer/songwriter iTunes chart.

While she’s currently in the middle of her fourth tour of Nashville, which also saw her officially being accepted into the prestigious Belmont University where she’ll begin attending this fall, Caitlin shows absolutely no signs of slowing down as she now releases the title track of her brand-new EP, “Seasons Change”

Wrapping into an acoustic strum that perfectly encompasses the emotional tug that’s embedded within her voice, Caitlin weaves us through a story of broken friendship that teeters on adolescent innocence while smashing into today’s bitter realities.

In what is an essentially an open letter to the childhood friend who ruined what was supposed to be, she fuses together frustration, hurt, and sadness as we travel back to when they were 8-years old and first made there always be together pack that would brokenheartedly fall apart, as she laments in the chorus from today’s now perspective:

“Funny how seasons change

Thought I’d have a boyfriend and a dog with a clever name

Funny how I’m to blame

When all I did was play by every rule in your stupid game

We were gonna live together

Then be neighbors with secret tunnels

We had it all mapped out

Ain’t so funny now”

Though Catlin reveals that said friend has tried to half-heartedly reconcile, she retorts that she isn’t buying the apology and that there’s no coming back from their betrayal of her; and while there doesn’t need to be an I’m sorry, it’s best for them to just move on and ignore her and what they once had.

At the core of any song from Caitlin Mae sits her incredible vocal prowess and her abilities to run through her gifted registers to expertly pop certain phrasing and specific words so that they hit the listener with that much more of an impact; something she absolutely does again on “Seasons Change.”

This is raw, this is real, this is Caitlin, but it’s also all of us! Who hasn’t experienced a friendship or relationship falling apart and suddenly changing the plans you had all mapped out? This transparently connectible factor that has become a signature of who Caitlin Mae is as an artist and songwriter is exactly why she continues to strike the listener in the feels while loudening the buzz surrounding her each time out.
