MEGAN MORONEY
"Girl in the Mirror"
Columbia Nashville
Ever since the release of her monumental mainstream viral breakout hit “Tennessee Orange”, Megan Moroney has had fans begging for more music. And with each new tune to hit the ears of fans, the more excitement and momentum builds around the Arista Nashville recording artist.
“Girl In The Mirror”, her third release from her upcoming debut album, is available now across all streaming platforms and digital retailers.
Self-described as the most vulnerable song she’s ever written, Megan’s latest offering is personal retrospective yet introspective look at oneself and who she has become throughout the duration of a relationship. It’s a story of self-revelation and uncovering the truth that is not always an easy thing to do. Written by Moroney along with Jessie Jo Dillon and Matt Jenkins, the tune’s lyrics flow like a poem, a letter of sorts to oneself, unapologetically describing what she sees when she looks at herself in the mirror.
“She looks just like me but I don’t recognize her
She’s go the same eyes but they’re heavy and tired
He just walked out and she’s standin’ right here
She loves the boy more than she loves the girl in the mirror”
It’s a heartbreaking realization as the song progresses, and she emphatically admits that she loves someone not only more than he loves her in return, but more than she loves herself. It’s a love tragedy, one that is so beautifully articulated and delivered.
Produced by Kristian Bush, the musical arrangement could not more perfectly support the somber vibe of the subject matter. Just as it should, the instrumentation is subtle, soft, and delicate. And of course, Megan’s vocals are incredibly poignant and perfectly encapsulate the somber tone. It’s a stripped down, vulnerable account of a heart breaking…and it’s absolutely beautiful.
“Girl In The Mirror” follows “Lucky” as the third release from her upcoming album, also titled ‘Lucky’, due out May 5th. The aforementioned “Tennessee Orange” has become an incredibly huge hit, currently in the Top 15 and still climbing while also tallying more than 120 million total global on-demand streams.
