"Buzzes Like Neon"

As anticipation builds surrounding Adam Hood’s upcoming album, ‘Adam Hood’s Different Groove,’ due out on September 22, the American roots artist has released his latest tune. “Buzzes Like Neon” is available on all streaming platforms now, featuring fellow Alabama native and Sony Music recording artist Ella Langley.
The inspiration for the tune came from nearly 20 years ago when Hood was playing a long stretch of solo gigs and missing home while getting accustomed to life on the road in big cities night after night. There was a large neon Western Auto sign on top of a Kansas City building that caught his attention and ignited the idea of the song.
“There’s a light in the city
Standin’ 5 miles high
I’m crossing that river
There’s a girl on my mind
And it’s high atop the buildings
Flashing red
It’s just one more reason
She’s stuck in my head”
Adam co-wrote the tune with Stephen Moos, and the decision to include Ella puts this tune over the top. While on paper, this may seem like an unlikely duo to collaborate, the musical arrangement perfectly showcases both artists’ vocal strengths, and blending together beautifully to create a new sound we never expected but instantly loved.
“This song has stood the test of the time as well as any song in my catalog,” Hood shared. “Ella came in and give it a really cool ‘Stevie Nicks’ feel that I love!”
This song is a Hood classic through to its core, with its rootsy, crooning approach to a storytelling anthem alongside an irresistibly catchy beat and guitar picking. His trademark raspy yet strong delivery of the lyrics effortlessly tells the tune’s story through his down-to-earth, everyday life lyrical approach.
As has been the case throughout his career, Adam successfully articulates his thoughts, feelings and emotions and is able to convey those through not only the lyrics, but also the musical accompaniment.
“And it buzzes like neon
And it makes me feel fine
The way she leads me on
It’s a real good sign”
Hood has been a well-respected artist in the music industry for years, both as a singer and a songwriter. But the release of his sixth studio album, ‘Bad Days Better,’ late last year, put him on another level of renowned prestige. Now we continue to see the remarkable talent the Opelika, Alabama native possesses, as he continues to impress with his unique style of American and roots rock-influence brand of country, as well as his impeccable ability to collaborate effortlessly with artists of other disciplines and backgrounds. As for when fans can see him live, Adam has two dozen dates scheduled from now through late November primarily in Texas as well as his home state of Alabama, with other special appearances in Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia, among others.
