NICOLE CROTEAU - Little Things - Independent Release

Though songs in which she’s co-writer on are still flowing out from the best of the best emerging talent on the country music scene today, Nicole Croteau slid out from behind the doors of the writing room and into the bright spotlight as an artist this past August with the release of her single, “Something I Would Do.”

The souped-up, honky-tonk rollick immediately perked ears with its irresistible two-steppin’ style, which while drizzled in modern flare dripped with 90’s country personality.

She now returns to that artist spotlight with her brand-new single, “Little Things.”

Swerving away from the blast of honky-tonk that she first hit us with, Croteau softens the pace to float her vocals atop a breezy melody, expertly hitting the nostalgic button through the lyric for all of us who are yearning for a simpler time while she autobiographically takes us through a list of the small-town morals and values that she holds most near and dear to her heart.

Driving us straight to her map dot hometown, Croteau uses the opening verse to paint a heartwarming, looking back picture when she cites eating a slice of mama’s homemade pie, sitting in grandpa’s easy chair, swinging on a front porch swing next to a good man, a good dog, and a little fiddle in the songs flowing through the speakers.

With a sway along hush embedded into the rhythm of the chorus, she proudly sings through the attributes of who she is today because of way back then:

“I’m big on keeping promises

Knowing wrong and right

The golden rule and words in red

That’s how I try to live my life

I’m big on giving what you get

Good whiskey and good friends

A place to sleep, air to breath

The way this guitar sings

I’m big on the little things”

Continuing to take us through the mix of ingredients that make up who she is today, she returns to list like fashion in the second verse when she smiles through her appreciation for liking a little slowed down type of living, a little blue in her collar, and lovingly getting lost in her better half’s stare.

Though this is certainly a stellar song that further introduces who Nicole Croteau is to a wider audience, it’s also a very encouraging reminder that tells us that the America we once knew hasn’t completely vanished, but rather that it lives within the heart of each of us and it’s up to us to carry those good ole morals and values forward into generation next.
