SHAYLEN - Been There Before - Two Hats Music Group

Two Hats Music Group recording artist Shaylen is back with her latest release and the first of 2024, and it’s a tune that will have us all dancing and singing along.  “Been There Before”, a cleverly-penned anthem to the ebbs and flows of the dating scene amongst young adult women, is available now digitally and on all streaming platforms.

Co-written by Shaylen along with Andrew Baylis, Michael Whitworth, and Nick Bailey, the Chattanooga-born, Dallas-raised singer’s latest song explores the trials and tribulations of exploring the dating scene.

“I finally got to write the dating anthem for my early 20’s”, Shaylen shared.  “It was an incredible day working with some of my faves.  Creating this song with them was so fun.  We literally just talked about all the crazy dating scenarios you go through as a girl in her early 20s and got to put it in one song.”

Cleverly-crafted and powerfully-delivered, “Been There Before” is an pop-country anthem for the ladies out there who have hit some speed bumps on their road to everlasting love.

“You got a bone dry bottle of Jack by the nightstand

Face down frame of your ex and you’re just friends

Lipstick stains on a glass in the sink, yeah, it’s all too familiar to me

I bet you take my coat to pretend you’re a gentleman

Hang it in your close next to your skeletons

Dirty laundry all over the floor

You could show me your place but I been there before”

Living in the world of “it’s funny but it’s true”, “Been There Before” is relatable track for millions of young women trying to find a real relationship but have found everything else along the way.  It’s a sure-to-be fan favorite, and one that should continue to propel Shaylen further into the well-deserved spotlight.

Growing up while listening to the iconic voices of everything from Elvis to Willie Nelson, Shaylen has always been a fan and had an appreciation for country music.  “Been There Before” follows the soulful, break-up ballad “Cowboys Never Cry”, as well as her collaboration with Austin John Winkler (former frontman of Hinder) for a reinvented version of the hit single “Lips Of An Angel”.

The songstress’s debut country single, “What If I Don’t”, surpassed 10 million streams on Spotify, while “Do It Right The First Time” hit #34 on the iTunes Country Charts with over 500,000 streams in just its first week.  “Roots” and “Close Thing To Closure” added to her impressive and ever-growing musical catalogue, which continues to escalate her up the ladder of country music mainstream notoriety.
