THE CASTELLOWS - I Know It'll Never End - Warner Music Nashville

As their single “No. 7 Road” was sparking waves within the country music industry through its Americana laced Appalachian country sound, The Castellows elevated their sibling harmonies to the forefront of everyone’s intrigued list of artists to watch as the trio then diligently slapped home a snapshot of their influences through an outstanding cover of Levon Helm’s “Hurricane.”

With a tremendous amount of buzz surrounding them during the tail end of this past year, the neo-traditional group has continued striking while the proverbial iron is hot, kicking off the new year with the announcement of their seven-song debut EP, A Little Goes A Long Way (Feb. 9, 2024), and subsequently releasing the teaser track “I Know It’ll Never End.”

The song, co-written by band members Ellie and Lily Balkcom, continues to spotlight their signature aura while adding pieces of bluegrass flare to the mix as they pace their travelling musician status like a Rand McNally against the idea that distance makes the heart grow fonder.

I wanna take a backroad through the Bama pines…leaning on your shoulder, won't you kiss my hands tonight?” sets in motion the growing steaminess between our lovestruck couple as the song opens, igniting their flame which is confessed to be rising to the point of burning Georgia down.

Though the first verse sees the falling in love couple spending meaningful time with one another, the remainder of the song plays out within the notion of having to be apart while her other two loves call her home - the music and the road; “I know you're gonna miss me when I'm off playing these strings.

Continuing with a visual road map through each of the unique choruses, which namecheck Mississippi, the Rocky Mountains, and West Virigina, the foundation of their romance arrives at an assured trust that only comes in the knowing that their love for each other will never end through each twist and turn that life inevitably presents.

With an obvious heartbeat bent towards romance, and perhaps an even stronger one toward their enthusiasm for the peaceful tranquility that traveling the open roads of our country can offer, The Castellows cleverly pull their ideas of an all-encompassing love into a three-minute toe-tapper that transports the listener to each map dot stop along the way.

Standing out amongst a crowded country music scene for any new act is certainly not an easy task, but as the banjo plucks and the fiddle slides both wrap around an insatiable three-layered harmony, The Castellows have instantly set themselves on a different plane while continuing to unapologetically tickle the senses of those clamoring for a little more down-home wrapped within their country flavoring.
