LILY GRACE - Can't Be Your Juliet - Independent Release

Utilizing the time that she spent in Nashville last year to really set her path in Music City, Australian import Lily Grace boldly stamped her name as an independent artist to watch through an irresistible blend of pop sensibilities and modern country aura.

While several of her young adult contemporaries are sullenly navigating the growing pains that arise through the trials and tribulations of life and love, Lily has intriguingly leaned on upbeat positivity as she embraced the flirtatious side of falling on addictively optimistic tracks “Bet On Us” and “Maybe So.”

She now returns with her newest release, “Can’t Be Your Juliet.”

Keeping an attractive upbeat tempo that instantly grips the modern era listener, she lyrically switches from the que, sera sera blissfulness of her last two releases to a very mature, though extremely tough decision to walk away from someone who is seemingly a good fit so as to not be distracted in the pursuit of chasing after her dreams.

Painting an expert picture that showcases just how right it all feels, Lily tells of the memorable moments that she’s loved experiencing with him, from holding his hand to watching the sunsetting in the western sky while transparently admitting that he’s just the type of “good one” that her mama had described to her.

However, as her internal struggle arises to the forefront, she confesses that she’s not ready for something so serious, that “she can’t fall in love today,” as she relies on storied fairy tale references throughout the chorus to outline her “it’s me not you” apology:

“I wish that I could be your Juliet

Your Cinderella, but I’m not ready yet

I gotta be on my own cause my world is turning

There’s so much learning, working on me

You’re someone I won’t forget

Probably something I’ll regret

But boy I can’t be your Juliet”

In what doesn’t seem to make any sense on the surface, she then uses the second verse and the bridge to explain the reasons behind her decision to walk away as she tells, “Gotta stay true to the dream I’ve been dreamin’ on” while also continuing to try her best to let him down easy, “I never meant to ever hurt you.”

With a maturity in her songwriting ability that is well beyond her age, Lily Grace is weaving her current chapter on songs that derive from the everyday issues that she and her peers face in love and life. However, underneath the relatable lyric content sits insanely catchy melodies that draw in the listener, giving her the 1-2 connectibility factor that is keeping the industry on high alert as she continues to position herself as the next big thing.
