CHASE MATTHEW - We All Grow Up - Warner Music Nashville

Is there a hotter rising talent in country music right now than Chase Matthew?

As “Love You Again” still impacts radio with solid rotation and “Where There’s Smoke” earns placement on the Activator chart, Chase continues to build momentum with his tremendous grassroots following while attracting new fans with his innovative, ultra-modern definition of the current country sound.

After a banner year in 2023, he kicks off the new year with the announcement of a brand-new EP (Feb. 16, 2024) and offers the first taste of it with its title track, “We All Grow Up.”

Written by Chase with Alex Maxwell, Jake Angel, Will Pattat, the song sits in the pocket of a soft, pop induced country groove as Matthew opens a truth filled look at small-town life with a focus on no matter how much you change and become who you’re meant to be, there’s always going to be part of that upbringing that lives inside of you; “It don't matter how old we get, we'll always be them kids.”

Through a reminiscing lens, the opening verse metaphorically flips through a high school yearbook as he remembers the most formative years and the attitude of he and his friends, smiling his way through the looking back truth that they used to be chasing after girls in daisy dukes and living on the edge like they had nothing to lose, before he then slaps the picture painting chorus of how those specific small-town moments have shaped who they’ve now become:

“At a party 'round a fire

Runnin' dirt roads

Way out yonder wherе the green grass grows

Cup holder of quarters 'cause gas ain't cheap

To get your first love in your shotgun seat

And look at us now, man it ain't what it was

Some left town and some got stuck

It takes a whole lotta God, a little love

But we all settle down and we all grow up”

With a second verse snapshot of where these same people are at today, he juxtapositions the opposite ends of the spectrum to fully encompass the many different paths one could take, singing of some finding the bottle while others found God, some being broke and others being millionaires, and some moving to the big city while others stayed country, ultimately though, landing at the simple truth that “'Round here we're proud of the way we live.”

As his next chapter is fixing to burst wide open it’s clear that Chase Matthew has answered our initial question, “Is there a hotter rising talent in country music right now?” With an impressive list of accolades already lining his resume combining with new music to kick off 2024, Chase Matthew is setting himself up for a year that will absolutely see him moving from those lists that are touting him as a rising talent to watch, over to those which will be hailing him as one who has arrived.
