SHANE PROFITT - Two Down - BMLG

With country boy charm and a confident Maury County swagger, Shane Profitt has quickly made a mark on country music by pulling inspiration from his own life through a balance of athematic, small-town ideals (“How It Oughta Be,” “I Am Who I Am”) and thought-provoking impact (“Still Picks Up,” “Good Luck and God”).

He now assumes the role of generational farmer for his latest release, “Two Down.”

Admitting that the songs he’s been cutting were missing that quintessential love song, he found inspiration for this one when he experienced his own happiness in love, tapping the feel-good of his country soul to walk the middle of addictive guitar licks and a groove laden melody.

Written by Shane, Ben Hayslip, and Jacob Rice, the song pulls its lyrical idea from the age-old notion that no matter how much you think you might have, you don’t really have anything until the right one is standing by your side.

Painting the farm boy landscape throughout the opening verse, Profitt beams with pride as he tells of having a couple of inherited acres, a front porch, and a job that he doesn’t mind working, before confessing that he won’t have it all, though, until he can figure out how to make “her” fall for him.

Textured in the emotional drive of the head over heels notion, he flirtatiously swoons in the second verse of how the stars are hitting her smile just right, while guiding the chorus with an influential, Clay Walker referenced line and an enhanced brushing of how his dreams are almost all coming true, but not quite yet:

“Got a  little piece of land that my daddy passed down

Looks like heaven every day about sundown

Doin’ what I love and lovin’ what I do

Still a little bit shy of a dream come true

All I need is a hand like yours to hold

I got the 40 acres makin’ me a good livin’

You’re the missin’ piece I know

Two down, one to go”

From song to song, Shane Profitt has displayed a keen ability to interestingly find new ways to say familiar things, which not only connects with his target listener demographic but are also the strong definitions of who he is as a songwriter, artist, and everyday person. “Two Down” is not only another release to notch on the discography for this emerging talent, but it’s rather the next very strong move forward as he continues to intriguingly unveil the layers of things still to come.
