Texas native George Birge’s career as a country music artist is ascending exponentially as he is set to release his second single to radio.  Set to impact stations March 11, “Cowboy Songs” is available digitally and on all streaming platforms now via RECORDS Nashville.

Combining two themes that are independently common for country music, “Cowboy Songs” tells the tale of the search for a girl that has broken his heart through the lens of the night at the bar.  For Birge, the song is a representative depiction of his experiences while cutting his teeth as a performer in dive bars and dance halls in his native Texas.

“Growing up playing dive bars in Texas, I always wanted to capture that image in a song,” Birge said.  “The moment we started writing ‘Cowboy Songs,’ I was instantly transported back to a hot, smoky, throwback dance hall night in the Austin, Texas that I grew up in.  I couldn’t love it more.”

Still so early in his career yet recognized and respected for his relatable lyrics and melodies, Birge’s songwriting talents are on full display with his latest tune, crooning his way through the metaphoric use of imagery to paint a picture that puts the listener sitting right beside him at the bar.

“So I got a twenty on the jukebox to keep it playing

Anything that sounds like Waylon

And right here’s where I’ll be staying all night long

‘Cause she only dances to cowboy songs”

From start to finish, this is a modern country rocker, completing with heavy riffs, impassioned vocals behind slices of steel guitar and secondary distortion.  The musical arrangement and variance add a captivating vibe to the track, while still yielding the spotlight to the sophisticatedly relatable lyrics delivered through Birge’s edgy, powerfully vocal bravado.

“Cowboy Songs” follows “Whiskey Go ‘Round”, which featured RaeLynn and was released in late 2023.  His debut single, “Mind On You,” was also his first No. 1, topping the country charts as well as impacting the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.  The tune single-handedly transformed George from a singer-songwriter from Texas into one of the promising young artists in the country music mainstream.

Birge is currently on the road, appearing on select dates of Parker McCollum’s BURN IT DOWN TOUR, and later this summer, he will be a special guest on Luke Bryan’s MIND OF A COUNTRY BOY TOUR.
