HANNAH NOEL - Old Record New Groove - Independent Release

With her breakout single “Don’t Sell Your Saddle” and the introspective “Shot Down (The Huntin’ Song), emerging talent Hannah Noel uncovered layers of who she is, aptly introducing herself to a wider audience as she brushed the genre lines of country with those flavored in singer-songwriter/Americana.

She now returns with her brand-new single, and her first release of 2024, “Old Record New Groove.”

With an effect of a needle dropping onto a vinyl record during the songs first few seconds, Hannah instantly adds the proper flare of throwback vibe to the lyrics as the splicing chop of guitar solidifies the melody, allowing the uniqueness of her voice to waver descriptives of who she is via the music collection that raised her; “An American girl raised on that American dream.”

Playing off the idea of having an old soul in the modern era, the rhythm continually builds to match the lifts and bends of her voice as she sings through an opening verse laced in song checks from the likes of Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and Deana Carter.

Wrapped in an atmosphere that pulls a classic rock laden groove into the all-around aura, she paints the picture of today’s 20-something generation through the lens of the songs that laid the foundation between what used to be with the contrast of what’s here and now, pulling both sides into one another through the punch of the anthem induced chorus:

“We might be down on our knees

But we’re still livin’ on a prayer

We’re still don’t stop believing

Won’t back down go our own wayers

It ain’t the way that it was

Times they are a changin

But we’re still turning it up

When the world keeps spinnin’, yeah we do too

Old record new groove”

The second verse intriguingly, and very unapologetically, examines the hotly debated topic of what is and what isn’t country, admitting that the here and now isn’t granddad’s version of it before then weaving the heartbeat of similarities down the middle of both eras.

With an exuberant grit lacing the growl of her voice that accents all the exclamation points, there becomes an unbridled emotion lifted throughout the song as Hannah Noel continues to walk within the essence of introduction of who she is through a spotlight showing that brightly shines on the influences she’s still spinning on her hi-fi today.
