JILLIAN CARDARELLI - Slow Song - Vydia

In the ever-diversified state in which the country music genre currently resides, we are seeing artists emerge from all angles of the wider music spectrum, from pop to R&B to rock and blues.  For Jillian Cardarelli, who first discovered country music at a young age listening to the likes of George Strait, Patsy Cline, and Shania Twain, the traditional sounds of the classic age of the genre have set the foundation for who she is as a songwriter and recording artist.

But as is displayed throughout her newest release, Cardarelli is more than a country music singer.  She is a gifted songwriter who has mastered the craft of incorporating elements of multiple genres while staying true to her classic country foundation to create a trademark sound true to herself and unique from others.  “Slow Song” is available now digitally and on all streaming platforms.

Written by Cardarelli along with Christian Holmes and Ryan Sorestad, the tune pays homage to traditional country while incorporating contemporary elements to create a sound and musical ambiance in its own category.

“I’m often told that I’m an ‘old soul’ and I love music from eras past,” Jillian said.  “This song was fun to write because it encapsulates that soulful, old school feeling of the music I grew up listening to, and it feels like a bit of a time capsule for me.  This is the kind of song you listen to while falling in love, dancing to and creating memories.”

The stifling love ballad finds Jillian right in her comfort zone, crooning her way through a soulfully honest and vulnerable portrayal of her mind and her heart, while exploring the boundaries of her signature style to incorporate flairs of jazz, blues, and pop.

Lyrically, this a poem set to music, vivid imagery and cleverly-infiltrated anecdotal inferences flowing from start to finish.

“On a slow song

I wanna hear it bad

Like a 50’s throwback

Turn the lights low

We can let it ride

Keep it a side

Kiss me soft, kiss me sweet

Yeah you’re all I need

We can play all night long

Love me like a slow song”

This is the latest track in a string of releases that continue to collectively establish the Massachusetts native as an artist on the brink of breaking through to big things in the genre.  Her songwriting is creative, intuitive, and craftily sophisticated yet down-to-earth, while her “girl-next-door” demeanor and relatability make her music that much more appealing to the masses.  Her vocal power, control, and flexibility are remarkable, and she seems to offer something unique and unexpected with every song she releases.

“Slow Song” is her third single release of 2024 and follows previously releases “I Hate Chevys”, “If I Could Talk To Elvis”, “Could’ve Been Boy”, and “Country Side”.
