CHARLY REYNOLDS - Somebody In Love - Independent Release

With an insatiable buzz surrounding her after an accelerated 2023 that culminated in the release of her Perfect Timing EP, hot rising talent Charly Reynolds kicked off the new year by peeling back layers of vulnerability, entering her next chapter on the back of the emotionally driven “Love You Long.”

She now returns with “Somebody In Love,” the second of five songs this year to preview her anticipated, debut full-length.

Written with Chris Utley and frequent collaborator Nicole Croteau, the float on the breeze melody brushes perfect accent to the blissfulness embedded in Reynolds vocal as she trails through the picture of the strong woman she’s always been, before a new love entered her life and now has her questioning who she is in the best possible ways as unexplainable idiosyncrasies suddenly appear.

Recalling the not-so-distant past through the opening verse, Reynolds tallies that she was fine buying her own drinks, changing her own tire, being alone, and doing her own thing, before quizzingly flipping the script when she asks, “So what is this lonely when you’re not here with me?”

Radiating a smile through your speakers as she twirls into this newfound feeling, she glides into the chorus:

“I’m starting to walk with a skip in my step

Every word is something I’ve never said

Keep catching me smiling for no reason

I Can’t believe I’m dreaming about

Wearing something borrowed and blue

You keep making me laugh, you keep making me act

Boy, you’re making me look, making me look

Like somebody in love”

Delving into the unbelievability of the entire situation that seemingly overtook her by surprise, the second verse brings us directly into awestricken situations that keep her heart beating rapidly; “Can’t see a sunset without wishing you were there,” “You bring me airport flowers when you pick me up,” “We talk for hours I can’t get enough,” etc.

With each of the first two songs she’s released this year, Charly Reynolds has revealed very different aspects of the emotions associated with love; the first revealing the walls you build to guard your heart from getting hurt, and now showcasing that it’s alright to allow yourself to fall.

By striking such a prevalent theme to most everyone’s everyday life, Reynolds instantly threads the balance of connectibility with the listener, leaning into the raw honesty of her powerful vocal to add the proper feelings to the heartfelt lyrics as she continually amps anticipation for things still to come.
