CHASE RICE - Go Down Singin' - Independent Release.

Multi-platinum artist and diamond-certified songwriter Chase Rice continues to embark on the new chapter of his career with the impending release of his forthcoming independent album.  As anticipation continues to rise surrounding the as-of-yet-unannounced date for the record, the North Carolina native is giving fans another glimpse into what we can expect.  “Go Down Singin’” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms.

A self-proclaimed autobiographical tune, “Go Down Singin’” was written by Rice along with Blake Pendergrass during a trip back to his roots in North Carolina.  The song tells an unapologetic, raw and unfiltered tale of Chase’s journey in the music business.

From the grind on Music Row as a young singer-songwriter trying to make a name for himself, to the ultimate decision to part ways with his label and explore an independent career, the track is an honest, eye-opening, heart-on-his-sleeve account of his experience as an artist.

“I’ll spare ya’ll the details, but a few months ago I decided to leave my record deal and do this thing on my own,” Rice shared.  “I appreciate the love and songs Broken Bown and I did together.  Now it’s time for me to ride this crazy rollercoaster we call the music industry by myself…Guess now it’s on me, if I do down at least I go down singin’”.

This is a singer-songwriter’s tune to its core, with its literal lyrical delivery effortlessly telling the listener the story of his trials and tribulations, of his struggles and his triumphs, all the while illustrating what he was feeling in his mind and in his heart.  Long before the mainstream country music world knew him for his chart-topping singles, Chase Rice was (and always will be) a gifted songwriter, and this autobiographical tale may just be some of his best work to date.

“Took a couple blows on Broadway

‘Cause I heard that’s what you do

Left blood and sweat and tears up and down 16th Avenue

Between the “Son you just ain’t got it’s

And the barely making rent

I just smiled and took it on the chin”

“Go Down Singin’” follows “Fireside” as a preview of the upcoming independent from Rice.  Still riding the high of his critically-acclaimed ‘I Hate Cowboys All Dogs Go To Hell’ record, which was named as one of 2023’s most unexpected artistic pivots by Billboard and widely regarded as one of the best albums of the year across all genres, Chase has clearly shifted his focus as an artist and that trend appears to be continuing here into 2024.

With more than 2.6 million albums sold and over 2.8 billion total streams, Rice has made himself a household name in country music, and has now, in recent years, bravely transformed his artistic approach, garnering praise amongst media, critics, and fellow artists alike.  With a new album on the horizon and an extended run with Dierks Bentley into the fall, 2024 may just prove to be the most impressive years of his career to date.
