RUSSELL DICKERSON - Bones - Triple Tigers

Coming off his infectiously addictive single “Good Day To Have A Good Day,” Multi-Platinum selling superstar Russell Dickerson has continued to swirl a substantial amount of respected buzz on his current road dates with Sam Hunt while introducing pieces of his newest material to droves of fans night in and night out.

He now delivers his latest offering, “Bones.”

When he debuted the raw demo of the song at CRS to a packed hotel room of industry reps, the otherwise jovial crowd went so silent that you could hear a pin drop as each next word endearingly pulled their intrigue deeper and deeper into the song. Likewise, a similar occurrence happened when he recently played it on the stage at the Grand Ole Opry.

Retaining pieces of his signature flare while slowing to a haunting pace, Dickerson masterfully utilizes the ebbs and flows of his voice to capture the heartfelt emotions of what is essentially a love letter of complete reassurance to his better half.

Painting the picture of her stunning beauty in the opening verse, he describes her outward appearance while also allowing the listener to understand the deeply rooted connection that he felt to her when she first took his breath away, “It’s more than when you know you know…Girl, I felt it in my bones.”

Flowing melodically in line with the pouring out of his unconditional love in the chorus, Dickerson lifts the drive of the rhythm into his heart made promises:

“I’ll love ya til the stars above ya

Ain’t shining in the sky no more

Long as I’m living baby I ain’t quitting

That’s a love you could bet your life on

I’ll love ya til I’m 6 feet down in the ground

And the gold on my finger’s wrapped around

Nothing but bones.”

The second verse then sees him moving forward from their initial connection to encompass the awestricken state of his disbelief as he ponders how an angel like her, with her halo and heart of gold, could ever end up by the side of a mere man like himself.

With a slight line switch in the final chorus that adds how he will love her forever and ever as a bold exclamation point to their story, Dickerson writes their diary from its very beginnings to its right here, right now feels, pulling from the classic country style of storytelling while infusing his modern aura into an endearing love song that’s built for a Friday night, her head on your shoulder slow dance.
