ABBY ANDERSON - King Of Dallas - Walk Off Entertainment

Having laid solid foundation for this now current chapter with a rewriting of her self-defined “country-ish” sound, Abby Anderson fused pop ideals and country storytelling into the hotly received “Bad Posture,” “Where Did All The Cowboys Go,” and “Heart On Fire In Mexico,” landing uniquely on a signature style that’s amassed over 100 million collective streams.

With a resume that also boasts recent supporting slots for Tim McGraw and Stevie Nicks and being named a CMT Next Women of Country and a “Class Of” recipient with the Bobby Bones Show, the near Dallas raised singer-songwriter now releases her highly anticipated, “King of Dallas.”

An undeniable sassiness within the melodic flow slaps into the exuding confidence she radiates in the ebbs and flows of her vocal, painting the picture in the opening verse of the cocky and egotistical “Dallas King” who thinks he can have everything he desires because of the Benjamin’s he flaunts.

Building fervently note by note to the hip popping sultriness of the chorus, she there embeds an empowering essence within the overall aura as she smirks at his failed conquest of getting her to fall for him while metaphorically wagging a finger of discord:

“You’re the king of Dallas

Money money grows on trees

Sitting in an empty palace

Lookin’ lookin’ for your next honeybee

If you want it  you own it

Hey baby, does it kill you knowing

You’re the king of Dallas

And you ain’t ever gonna get

Ever gonna get this Queen”

While fully understanding the life she could have had if she allowed herself to have been blinded by his hypnotic web, “I coulda been drippin’ in diamonds and a brand-new Benz,” she unapologetically then stamps the reason she’s not so easily manipulated, boldly retorting how she can see him for who he is and what he’s lacking most; “The problem is you can’t love nobody as much as you love yourself.”

Following the intriguing 1-2 punch of “Bright Side of Blue” and “If You Killed Somebody,” this unbridled anthem of self-worth continues peeling back the layer of her next chapter, encouragingly connecting with the 20-something female demographic while raising one up with self-assuredness in a toast your status as a Queen!
