  CAITLYNNE CURTIS - Black Widow - Angels & Outlaws/ONErpm

Having earned success with Struggle Jennings on the gold certified “God We Need You Now,” Caitlynne Curtis has craftily added solid definition to who she is as an artist in the country music realm ever since, highlighting her incredible vocal power while inducing vulnerability toward a healing journey of self-worth on diary page turned songs, “Been Through Hell,” “You Were Right,” and “Everyone But You.”

Blending modern country tilts and senses of soulful flavoring, she returns with a raw and honest exploration into the tolls of a toxic, on again off again with her latest offering, “Black Widow.”

Curtis states, "This song dives deep into the pain and complexity of a toxic love. Remember, sometimes love can be as dangerous as it is beautiful—don't get bitten!”

Masked in instrumental simplicity that offers moody soundscapes to encapsulate the turmoiled emotional trails of her vocal prowess, Curtis bends her voice in a balance of the internal conflictions that are welling up after letting him back in yet again, fluidly pressing together guilt and shame with a momentary blissfulness.

Drawing poetic comparisons between his intoxicating allure and the deadly bite of a black widow spider, she allows each small crack of her heart to continue splicing its way with each next line, fracturing and bruising until it eventually breaks in half.

She pinpoints the toll that their back and forth is having on her through each of the verses,  “I’ve been losing myself every time that you call,” “No everything ain’t okay, it’s like poison in my veins,” while layering the unexplainable question, “If love is just a feeling, then why does it sting so deep?”

Melodically progressing within the escalating breakdown, she slams into the chorus with an elevation of her voice that signals an overflowing emotional boldness as she leans into a heartbreak swirl:

“The sweet taste of venom when our lips meet

Yeah, maybe it seems harmless but due to contrary belief

This has to be the last web you weave out my window tonight

Cause this love is killing me like a black widow’s bite”

Surrounded in dirty guitar shreds that strike like broken splices of a jagged mirror, she faces her cracking edges with maturity in her soul-searched ask, “So why do I pray the things that I know are fatal, my heart is in danger.”

Caitlynne Curtis has continually proven with each song she’s released over the past year, not only the signature characteristics that make her uniquely stand out but an understanding of the emotional struggles that an unbalanced relationship leaves scarring a broken heart. With a strong connection to the listener who’s weighed down in heartache despair, she once again offers a been there too comfort with “Black Widow.”
