With a release date of September 17, 2021, now set for Scotty McCreery’s highly anticipated fifth studio album Same Truck, he continues to entice his fans and further heighten their expectations with plenty of teaser songs ahead of the album’s release.

With his most current single “You Time” inching closer to the Top 5 this week, McCreery is now offering his fans the next song in the line of teasers with “Carolina To Me.”

Written by McCreery, Taylor Phillips, and Jeremy Bussey, “Carolina To Me” is an incredible nod to his home state of North Carolina.

He sings in the first verse of listening to the preacher on Sunday mornings and understanding all that he is speaking, but when it comes to heaven, McCreery confesses that his version of it looks a little different than pearly gates, blue skies, angel’s wings, and streets of gold.

Instead, his version of paradise - as the title implies - is “Carolina.” But it’s how he uses very descriptive lyrics to explain why he feels that way that elevates this song and brings his idea of heaven to life as he namechecks specific people and places on lines such as:

“I think about them long leaf pines lined on Tobacco Road.”

“I think about grandpa on an old creek bank and his Zebco 33.”

“I’ve already walked with Jesus going through Kill Devil Hills.”

“I’ve talked to God face to face sitting high up in Linville.”

“I think about ole Andy Griffith whistling on TV.”

Ultimately, this perfectly sums up who Scotty McCreery is and is a wonderful teaser for the album still to come. However, what might be the most impactful thing about this song is how it makes us stop and understand that heaven is all around us right here on earth, if only we’ll just start appreciating the simple things that surround us every day.
