Elvie Shane is a perfect example of overcoming, persevering, and achieving dreams. We first met the Caneyville, Kentucky native during his American Idol audition in 2016, and although he was eliminated from the show early, he made enough of an impression to sustain his independent song releases in the aftermath, which would then later capture the attention of the Nashville music industry.

His incredible, debut radio single, “My Boy,” has resonated with country music fans in a BIG way and has been impacting the Mediabase Country Airplay chart for the past 51 weeks, and it is currently sitting in the #8 position at the time of this writing.

So where does Elvie Shane go from here?

With his debut album Backslider due out on October 29, 2021, we get our next look at what to expect from it with “My Kinda Trouble.”

“My Kinda Trouble” is a 2 minute and 37 second boot heel clickin’ barn burner that will have you grabbing your dancin’ partner by the arm and hitting the Friday night dancehall floor while two-stepping your way around it.

Lyrically, this is all about being attracted to the quietly hidden bad girl; the type who Shane describes in the opening verse as having a wild side that she tries to cover up like a bad tattoo, while later moving the story forward to the two getting closer when he sings of how her lips taste like whiskey.

Between the verses, though, is where the true meat of the lyric is. Shane drops a truth bomb in the chorus when sings that while he knows she’s dangerous and is only going to leave him with a broken heart, she’s still “the kinda trouble I can get into.”

Whereas “My Boy” hit on the sentimental side with a country song that isn’t unlike those iconic tunes that people still talk about years after they hit their peak, “My Kinda Trouble” is clearly built more for the rowdy, Friday nighters. And while each of these songs are vastly different from one another, Elvie Shane has absolutely shown us the range of who he is as a songwriter and artist with “My Kinda Trouble” as he continues opening his book of personal stories and inviting us to live them alongside of him.
