Multi-platinum country music superstar Thomas Rhett is set to release his sixth studio album, ‘Where We Started,’ in early 2022.  The first glimpse we, the listeners, are seeing from that forthcoming album is his new single, “Slow Down Summer”.

Rhett’s incredibly unmatched ability to tell an infectious story is on full display with this latest track, and while this was song was not specifically written from his life, it undeniably draws stark similarities to moments we have all experienced in our younger years.

Written by Thomas along with Ashley Gorley, Jesse Frasure, and Sean Douglas, as well as his father Rhett Akins, the song tells the story of a young relationship with an uncontrollable end, as two lovers are forced to part ways and have nothing but the summer to enjoy before the inevitable parting of ways commences.

As has been the case with many of Rhett’s hits over the years, “Slow Down Summer” combines moments of catchy hooks and melodies along with the slowed, stripped-down verses that emphasize the importance of the lyrics, which are paramount to the impact on the listener.

After a long break from touring due to the pandemic, Thomas Rhett is riding a whole new wave of momentum, with a highly successful tour and a new album on the way early next year.  “Slow Down Summer” looks to follow in the footsteps of his previous 18 career number one tunes, and we should expect to see it at the top of the charts in the near future.
