With the release of “You Got a Small Town,” Dalton Dover quickly introduced himself and his music in one fell swoop, by not only showing us who he is as an artist, but by also inviting us to come down to his rural, small-town and experience the way of life he’s accustomed to.

The song not only caught the attention of the Nashville music media, but also resonated with his incredible social media following, which has made his follow-up release even more anticipated.

Dalton now returns with that next release, “Baby I Am” – a tribute to his wife Faith, who many of his followers will recognize from his popular TikTok series #CatchMeOffGuard.

Whereas “You Got a Small Town” carried some grit in its style, “Baby I Am” takes a more polished route that combines Dalton’s crisp, outstanding voice with a smooth pop laden backbeat behind an irresistible melody that pulls you in.

The song, written by Jason Gantt, Dan Isbell and Nate Smith, sees Dalton (as its narrator) reassuring his better half of his love for her, at a time when the lyrics dictate that perhaps she’s feeling down about something that she’s already gone through in her past and it’s causing her to question herself now.

“I could tell somebody broke your heart, I could see somebody told you lies,” he sings in the opening lines of the song which lets her know that he understands her past, before using the chorus to deliver the reassuring punch through the hook when he sings, “If you wonder if I might be your love you ‘til the day I die kind of man - Baby I, Baby I Am.”

With his fans already telling him that they plan to use the song at their wedding, it’s clear to see that “Baby I Am” is connecting with his fans in a big way.

Beyond only his fans, however, Dover has presented radio with a song that is clearly built for airplay and checks off all the boxes needed to achieve monumental status: a memorable melody that surrounds lyrics that connect with the heart of the listener, all while being wrapped up in a nice, 3-minute package.

While his previous releases have all given us a fine introduction to who Dalton Dover is, all these strong factors supporting “Baby I Am” makes it the song that will push him into the coveted buzzworthy, artist to watch status.
