Jameson Rodgers broke through at country radio in a BIG way when his 2019 debut single “Some Girls” rocketed up the charts to the #1 position. Then, as if just to prove that it wasn’t only beginner’s luck, he repeated the feat with his follow-up single “Cold Beer Calling My Name.”

Between his single releases, he’s continued to appease his fans while establishing new ones through music video releases of “Desert” and “You Won’t,” both from his debut full-length, Bet You’re from a Small Town.”

Rodgers now returns with “Missing One,” his next official radio single.

Co-written by Rodgers with Hunter Phelps and Smith Ahnquist, “Missing One” tackles a subject that’s familiar with country music fans of not being able to let go of a relationship once it’s over, but he comes at it from unique point of view that takes us through all the “missing” reminders that are still surrounding him every day.

Whether it’s his copy of The Eagles Desperado album that she still had when they split up that he never asked for back, or the cigarette he smoked from the new pack that he just bought since she wasn’t there to keep him from smoking anymore, both scenarios are meant to make us focus on the little things that are missing from Rodgers’ life now that she’s not in it, but he’s actually using these instances to craftily build to the strong punch of the chorus.

It’s here that Rodgers cuts deeper than all the small things and brings us directly to the truthful heart of the matter when he sings of being in a bar where there are a lot of different women, but then confesses that he’s missing the one that he wants by his side - and it hurts like hell!

This scenario is true to real life as many of us have experienced a breakup where we feel stuck in place and can’t move on in the aftermath - no matter how hard we try. With raw honesty, Rodgers even injects the song with a line that we often find ourselves playing repeatedly in our own heads during these situations, “I wanna want somebody else.”

Because of Jameson’s proven ability to connect his lyrics to real life situations that are strongly familiar to anyone listening, it’s a pretty safe bet to assume that “Missing You” will be another smash for Rodgers as he continues his hot streak.
