CODY PURVIS
"Someday Man"
Independent Release
When his song “Drinkin’ Terms” hit the Billboard Country Radio Top 50 in 2018, Cody Purvis immediately stamped his name down on the country music map and quickly earned a strong grassroot following that has stuck by his side ever since.
Between successful tour dates, hosting his weekly live music series ‘Nashville’s Most Wanted,’ and recent song releases “Airplane Mode” and “From A Small Town,” Purvis has continued to showcase his raw talent and his different unique attributes that all come together to make him stand out as an artist to watch.
He now returns with his new single, “Someday Man.”
“Sitting close to the most beautiful thing, a fallen angel with a broken wing,” opens the song as Purvis instantly captures the emotion through his outstanding vocal delivery, but he is also very smart in the production to place the lyrics perfectly in the spotlight so that the heart of the song can truly shine.
Heartbreak is something that we all experience, but it’s becoming all too common that in the aftermath of a breakup so many people build strong walls around themselves which can detrimentally keep them from allowing the right one in – the one who truly loves them for who they are. This is the aspect that Purvis focuses on as he sings of becoming her “someday man.”
With the strong hook of “someday she’s gonna love again and I’m gonna be her someday man,” Purvis displays his calmness and patience with her, while on other lines he reveals the emotional things that she will need someday when she’s ready to love again; someone to treat her right, someone who cares to hear about her hopes, dreams, and fears, and someone to be the shoulder for her when she’s hurting and needs someone to lean on.
What I love about this lyric is how it purposely stays vague when describing exactly what caused her breakup and everything that she’s been going through since it happened, only singing “she’s been through hell here on this earth,” which masterfully allows the listener to connect their own story of heartbreak directly to the song.
That strong connection factor for the listener, mixed together with a fresh, modern country sound and ideals lifted from the not-so-distant 2010’s era of country music, gives Cody Purvis a very strong possibility of “Someday Man” becoming his next song to hit the Billboard charts
