As his most current single “One Mississippi” is rocketing up the charts, the anticipation for the new material that Kane Brown’s been working on has created an incredible buzz that has left his amazing fan base clamoring for more.

Just prior to the end of 2021, Brown took to his Instagram and threw fuel to the flame when he posted a teaser of another new song, “Whiskey Sour.” The fans, as expected, have been talking about the new song for the past two weeks, but now it’s officially arrived!

The traditional country styled song leans into the fiddle and acoustic instrumentation to align with its soft and simple production which allows Brown’s incredible vocals to be at the forefront of the emotionally packed lyrics while providing the gut punch needed to properly satisfy the heartbreak they sing of.

The song opens innocently enough with the couple falling in love as Brown sings of being two heartbeats away from rings, a dress, and a church wedding. However, it doesn’t take long for it to all completely turn and come crashing down, a month or so as he reveals, and he now finds himself sitting at the bar alone while drinking whiskey sours and trying to figure out how to move on.

What this song does so amazing lyrically is that it never quite says why they split apart which allows the listener to insert their own heartbreak into the story as they listen to Brown continue to fall further into the anxiety that comes with overthinking in the aftermath of a breakup; first revealing that she’s the one that introduced him to the whiskey sours that he’s still drinking while he’s contemplating all the empty promises, if she ever really loved him, and if he should call her up again or just settle for another drink instead.

Though we’ve certainly seen this more traditional side of Kane Brown in the past, this song comes to us at a time when he’s been staying mostly amid his pop laden brand of country, which gives this traditional vibed tune a remarkably refreshing feel.

If the buzz wasn’t already high enough for what Brown is currently working on, then “Whiskey Sour” has just elevated it to entirely new heights!
