Gattman, Mississippi native and American Idol alum Colin Stough is back with a new tune, showing a personal, emotional side to the southern country rocker.  “Makes Two Of Us” is available across all streaming platforms and digital retailers now via 19 Recordings / BMG Nashville.

Co-written by Stough along with Alex Maxwell and Cole Taylor, the temptation of an on-again-off-again romance takes the forefront in the latest release from the heavy-hitting country crooner.  Feelings of heartbreak, grief and loneliness are pitted against bitterness, anger, and confusion in this internally-conflicted breakout anthem that resonates itself in a memory that we all seem to have from at least one moment in our lives.

“’Makes Two Of Us’ is about that after a breakup thing where you keep thinking about your ex,” Colin said.  “It’s those lonely moments when your brain kicks in and you start thinking about them, then you start debating on whether or not you should reach out just in case they’re thinking of you too.”

Despite the relationship ending, moments of emotional weakness lend themselves to comfortability and familiarity, all the while knowing it is a mistake and will be regretted later.  The lyrics are masterfully crafted, while Stough’s vocals are impeccably strong yet vulnerable as he croons his way alongside a tearfully symphonic vibe of somber undertones as the melody flows freely and effortlessly from start to finish.

Since his appearance on Season 21 of American Idol through the release of his debut EP ‘Promiseland’, Colin has quickly made a name for himself as a heavy-hitting, distorted guitar country rocker.  But his traditional roots shine through in moments as he continues to diversify and add to his music catalogue, and “Makes Two Of Us” showcases his sensitive, sentimental songwriting side that explores emotional conflict.  This is the latest illustration of how much talent this young artist possesses as he continues to hone his craft as a singer and songwriter.
