Since releasing her debut EP One Of These Days in June 2022, Empire Nashville recording artist Sophia Scott has continued to ride the momentum wave with hot song releases “If I Hadn’t Been Drunk,” “Her,” “Red Dress,” and the recent duet with Zack Dyer, “Getting Over You Thing.”

What’s so amazing about living in Nashville is that songwriter/artists of Scott’s caliber will still visit intimate places to hone their craft, try out new songs, and perfect what they do, while ultimately giving music aficionados an amazing opportunity to study the songwriting craft from the scene’s top-tier talent.

Undiscovered Nashville’s Pre-Famous music series has continued to up the ante every Thursday night when they tuck into The Clubhouse at Sonny’s amid a cozy living room type of setting to deliver strong talent in front of a hushed crowd that’s intent on soaking up the music – this week, which featured Sophia in the 8 o’clock spotlight.

“I wrote this first one about my inability to say no to having a good time,” confessed Sophia with a shrug of her shoulders as she punched into her half hour set with "Don't Tempt Me," instantly impressing with her stellar vocal prowess as she pushed an undeniably soulful rasp into the sway along melody of the toe tapping party anthem that had everyone in the place shoulder dancing along with her.

"This is a new one that's not out yet. I wrote it about reflecting back on a long term relationship that’s ended, and having that feeling like you've got to start all over again now," she told as she softened the pace into "Wasted All My Lipstick," walking her voice along the guitar lick through each line of the verse to strike her different ranges before dipping into a chorus that saw her lamenting on all the time that she wasted on something, and someone, that didn't work out in the end.

“This is the title track of my debut EP, and it really means a lot to me because it was one of the first times that I really got to go there...to let myself go to somewhere uncomfortable,” explained Scott. “But ever since then, this song always reminds me that no matter what comes my way, there's always peace and growth that has to happen," she encouragingly spoke as the crowd quieted while she held tightly to her softer range and allowed her voice to carry the heavy of the emotions through “One Of These Days.”

“This is one about being drunk, and I think we all know how that usually goes,” Scott admitted with a knowing nod. “But this was one of those times that it led to something really great happening for me, which was falling in love with my now fiancé,” she enthusiastically shared with a smile as she leaned into the 70’s kissed groove of “If I Hadn’t Been Drunk,” bopping along with the catchy rhythm as she pumped her vocal through the list like lyric of all the situations that drinking a little too much had led her into that night, only to land at the morning light next to him which was the start of her heart falling.

Channeling her influence of Kacey Musgraves, Sophia poured all the proper emotions into “Slow Burn” to hold firmly to the familiarity of the song, while skillfully adding slight touches of herself into the performance to give it a definition that made it her own.

Inviting us to metaphorically flip through her family photo album, Scott closed with her forthcoming single “In Her Shoes,” singing from a now more understanding perspective of the once very complicated relationship between her and her mother as she masterfully tilted the depth of the lyric into an insatiably catchy melody while bopping through the chorus and swaying on her stool as the crowd mimicked her, landing at a great ovation as the final notes of her set were played.
