As CCB Nashville continues driving into the second half of the year with their incredibly ambitious #newmusicfriday initiative of releasing a new song every week from an artist on their talented roster, RT Johnson slides into his normal third Friday of the month position with his newest release, “She’s My Kinda One of a Kind.”

Johnson really broke out in 2021 with “Feel Good Again,” and 2022 has seen him offer a few different flavors with each of his releases as he’s honed in on his signature feels more and more, elevating them to the forefront and defining his brand.

He’s given us his small-town, country boy charm on songs such as “You Can’t Go Wrong” and “Daylight Southern Time,” has defined being a proud, Red, White, and Blue collar man on “American Tough,” and swerved outside of his normal comfort zone with “Trouble,” a song with leaned heavy into modern flare as he sang about crushing on the bad girl.

“She My Kinda One of a Kind” refreshingly sees Johnson giving us our first taste of a song that sees him focusing on that one special someone who came into his life - presumably his wife - and completely flipped the script for the better.

Flirtatiously, Johnson confesses throughout the opening verse (and into the chorus) that she knows how to get him going by hugging and kissing on him while driving him crazy when she calls him baby, admitting that everything’s better when they’re together.

The float on the breeze, mid-tempo tilted instrumentation really allows Johnson’s voice to incapsulate his walking on sunshine feelings and carefree type of love that he’s in, pulling you into the feel good that he’s experiencing as you listen.

The second verse uses several clever comparatives to match all the ways that the two of them fit together so well, saying that they go together like sugar and cane, like the stars in the sky, the moon and the tide, and like two peas in a pod - the latter infusing the song with a dose of Johnson’s signature southern charmed flavor.

Praising the woman who he’s head over heels in love with, he sings in the bridge:

“She’s nothing less the perfect

A lifetime of worth it

Everything about hers just right.”

RT Johnson is one of the hottest acts on the CCB Nashville label due to so many of his song’s connecting with his down-home image and resonating with the hometown raised listeners who he calls his fans. However, with “She’s My Kinda One of a Kind,” Johnson invites us for the first time into a snapshot of his every day, personal life and connects in a whole different way with his fans as they become longtime family friends over two minutes and fifty-five seconds!
