ZAC BROWN BAND - Pirates & Parrots - Warner Music Nashville
Country music superstars Zac Brown Band have released a brand-new song that will undoubtedly have an emotional impact on its listeners. The award-winning outfit’s latest, “Pirates & Parrots”, is available digitally and on all streaming platforms now via Warner Music Nashville.
Featuring acclaimed singer-songwriter and Coral Reefer Band member Mac McAnally, “Pirates & Parrots” is a tribute to the late Jimmy Buffett, who passed away in September 2023. More than a celebrated singer-songwriter whose music had a life of its own, Buffett was a friend and collaborator with countless individuals in the music business and beyond, and his passing took a toll on many, including Zac Brown.
“I’m so excited for you to hear this song and to pay tribute to Jimmy Buffett,” Brown said. “It hit me hard when we found out he was exiting the stage, he was an incredible human being.”
This tune is a laid-back, island tune with Brown’s signature artistry and vocal delivery alongside a smooth, subtle acoustic guitar and he uses his gift of music to tell a story to all, something that made Buffett a household name for decades.
“So adios, my friend
Anchor where that ocean ends
We’ll pick up where you left off
Strummin’ on a sailor song
We’ll hold down this salty rock
Where it’s always five o’clock
When the sun goes down, we raise our drinks
All the pirates and parrots sing”
Brown premiered the song at the Hollywood Bowl’s Keep The Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett, of which McAnally was the music director and band leader. Returning to the fun summertime anthems the band has become known for over the years, most recently “Tied Up”, ZBB is paying homage to the career and life of a man and artist who touched so many, and only a recording that encompasses the vibe of his trademark aura is adequately fitting.
Wearing his heart on his sleeve and delivering an emotionally-poignant masterpiece, Brown, McAnally & Co. perfectly captured the essence of Buffett’s iconic repertoire in this touching musical tribute.
Both McAnally and ZBB are set to be on the road extensively this year. While Mac, a ten-time CMA Musician of The Year, is playing headlining gigs across the country, Brown is on tour with Kenny Chesney playing stadiums across the country all summer long.
