ALLIE COLLEEN - Grass On The Grave - Evangeline Records

In today’s astoundingly-competitive music industry, it can seem an almost impossible feat to distinguish oneself from the thousands of other aspiring artists.  One must possess a nearly unattainable combination of talent and work ethic in order to shine brighter than most and make a name for oneself amongst fans and critics.

Impeccably talented singer-songwriter Allie Colleen has released a brand-new tune to the masses.  “Grass On The Grave” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms now via Evangeline Records.

“This song is a tribute to loss and all that comes out of it,” Allie said.  “Sonically it resembles the resiliency of healing and lyrically it represents the frustrating of letting go.  I hope it creates a safe space for recovery and pushes the listener forward to the pursuit of ‘more’”.

Written by Colleen along with Alyssa Trahan, Krystal Polychronis and Craig Wilson, “Grass On The Grave” embraces the notion of resiliency amidst loss, focusing on the recovery while acknowledging the trauma.  It’s an ode to grief and sadness, as well as admiration for inner strength and fortitude.

The lyrics are heart-wrenching and up-lifting, while her vocal delivery is mesmerizingly beautiful as she swoons her way through the poetic lyrics that vividly craft a tale that is relatable to so many.

“I was never getting better

It all felt so wrong

It was supposed to be forever

Now I wake up and it’s gone

But the sun will keep rising

Broken ground just needs the rain

It takes time moving on

But there’s grass on the grave”

Following her first song of 2024, the breakout hit with Lee Brice “While We’re Still Friends”, “Grass On The Grave” showcases Allie’s undeniable talent as both a singer and a songwriter.  It can be an incredibly difficult task to undertake a highly-sensitive and emotional topic such as death and loss, and to eloquently embrace the subject matter and deliver a thought-provoking account of vulnerability and healing is an innate quality that is not possessed by many artists.

Ever since the release of her debut album, ‘STONES’, Allie has garnered the attention and praise of the industry for her uniquely exquisite musical style, from songwriting to vocal delivery to instrumental arrangements.  The personal space from which she sings add an unmeasurable degree of emotion and connectivity to everything she writes and sings, making her truly a unique talent on the country music spectrum.
