TUCKER WETMORE - What Would You Do? - Back Blocks Music
Recently named as Billboard’s May Rookie of the Month, Tucker Wetmore is continuing the momentum he’s bult over the past few months with the release of a brand-new tune. His latest single, “What Would You Do?”, is available digitally and on all streaming platforms now via Back Blocks Music.
After catching his significant other cheating, he eludes the typical heartbreak, grief, and anger diatribes and elects for a for more self-discovering approach, asking her what she would do if the roles were reversed. It’s a thought-provoking approach for the listener, just as it was for Wetmore as he was writing it.
“This is one of the most real songs I’ve ever written,” Tucker said. “We’ve all encountered the typical narcissist at some point in our lives or in a relationship, and this one’s about what you’d say if you had the chance to ask ‘em what they’d do if they were in your position.”
Written by Wetmore along with Jacob Hackworth, Jaxson Free and Gabe Foust, “What Would You Do?” is a modern country tune to its core, incorporating elements of pop and R&B to support Tucker’s twang, southern-drawl heavy vocal delivery.
Lyrically, this song is a confessional and a stripped-down demand to a significant other. In contrast to the direction many songwriters lean, Tucker steers the focus away from blame and centers around uncovering the truth. The lyrics flow effortlessly alongside the steady beat and melody for a toe-tapping, head-bobbing, ear-pleasing experience from start to finish.
“And tell me honestly
If you practiced honesty
Would you tell the world
That you’re everything I thought you’d be?
Would you take you back?
Would you cut you loose?
If you were wearing these boots, baby
What would you do to you?”
The beat and vibe of the track is an instant mainstay that will resonate with the listener immediately, drawing a stark resemblance to the likes of a Morgan Wallen effort. Wetmore has clearly found his niche in the ever-lucrative country music mainstream, and his latest release may just prove to be his most successful yet.
Three singles into his career, the Kalama, Washington native has made a name for himself as one of the bright young stars in country music. “What Would You Do?” follows “Wine Into Whiskey” and “Wind Up Missing You” as previously released tunes from the past few months, collectively accumulating over 150M streams as his career continues to skyrocket virtually overnight.
Wetmore wrapped up his supporting run on Kameron Marlowe’s Strangers Tour this month, and after appearing at some of the country’s biggest festivals, he will join Luke Bryan’s FARM TOUR 2024 later this summer.
