JOSH ROSS - New Me - Universal Music Canada

Josh Ross is quickly becoming known as one of Nashville’s most promising singer-songwriter-performers.  The CCMA Breakthrough Artist of the Year has released a brand new single, his first preview of new music since the release of his latest EP in March.  “New Me” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via Universal Music Canada.

Written by Ross along with Corey Crowder, Mason Thornley and Matt Geroux, the play-on-words infectious track is taste of modern country perfection, with its undeniably hooky beat incorporating all of the genres outside elements to describe a heartbreak like only a country song can and has done for years.

As is with most breakups, there is a sense of someone could have done more or the notion that as time moves on, people change and aren’t the same as when they were together.  Much to contrary, Ross confirms throughout the tune’s insatiable chorus that he is the same person now as he was then.

“Girl, I wish I could say I was a new me

Making all of the changes that you wanna see

To be honest, baby, I ain’t changed a damn thing

Same barstool, same old burning it down

Ain’t it crazy how we were so close?

Looking at you now, girl, you never know

You’re out there acting happy like you never knew me

I’m just the same old, ain’t no new me”

Ross puts his vocal supremacy on full display on this track, taking the listener on a lyrical story using his voice as an invitation into his heart as he seemingly effortlessly depicts the emotions he feels, delivering the emotive and poignant lyrics with the honesty and passion of a well-crafted tune.

This is a somber, heartache-influenced modern country number, with the instrumentals and vocal delivery offering the perfect combination of raw feelings, soaring vocals, and storying telling ability that will earn its appeal to fans from all across all of the genre’s spectrum.

Ross released his eight-song ‘Complicated’ EP on March 29th, which includes his chart-climbing hit “Single Again”.  To date, he has tallied more than 475 million career streams and is making a name for himself as one of the more promising young stars in country music, both in Canada and the United States.  After wrapping up his run with Bailey Zimmerman on his Religiously. The Tour., Josh will continue his busy 2024 schedule on the road by joining Luke Bryan for select dates on his Mind Of A Country Boy tour this summer.
