MADDIE & TAE - Sad Girl Summer - Mercury Nashville

Multiple-platinum pair Maddie & Tae are back with a highly-anticipated new single that is sure to surpass even their biggest fans’ expectations.  The award-winning duo has released “Sad Girl Summer”, which is available digitally and on all streaming platforms now via Mercury Records Nashville.

The tandem of Maddie Font and Taylor Kerr first exploded onto the scene in 2013 with their smash hit, “Girl In A Country Song”, and ever since then, they have mesmerized the country music mainstream community with their fun, upbeat, sing-along numbers alongside slower, harmoniously beautifully ballads which has made them one of the most successful female duos in recent memory.

The upbeat, toe-tapping nature of this post-breakup anthem is exactly where these talented ladies find themselves in their comfort zone, which was as much fun to write as it will be to perform.

“’Sad Girl Summer’ was such a blast to write,” Maddie & Tae said.  “We co-wrote this with Tae’s husband, Josh Kerr, wanting to create an empowering summertime anthem for our fans to jam to this year!  His song is the first look at the bold, confident songwriting you’ll hear woven through this upcoming chapter of music for us.”

Led by a slick banjo lick, fast steady beat, and the girls’ signature harmonies, this song hits all the right notes from start to finish, infectiously inducing head-bobs and body sways as they dance through the quick, clever lyrics of the verses and hit their stride as the chorus kicks in.

“This ain’t no sad girl summer, girl, we’re sayin’ goodbye

To that bummer of a boy who’d been makin’ you cry

There’s a good time waitin’, quit wastin’ your time

Let’s get somethin’ new cookin’, oh, ‘cause you lookin’

Hot, hot hotter than a hundred degrees

Think of the shots, shots, shots you could be getting’ for free

I know that a broken heart hurts like a mother

But this ain’t no sad girl summer”

A sure to be fan favorite, on stage and on the radio, “Sad Girl Summer” is set to be the latest hit in an ever-growing and ultra-impressive music catalogue from the award-winning duo.  The ladies will continue headlining their Here’s To Friends Tour across the country, with more dates to be announced soon, as well as appearing at some of the biggest festivals in the country, including CMA Fest later this week.
