BILLY CURRINGTON - Everything Is Changing - Mercury Records Nashville
Country music hitmaker and multi-platinum star Billy Currington is gearing up for a busy summer as he continues a headlining tour, an upcoming album release, and now, a brand-new tune. “Everything Is Changing” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via Mercury Records Nashville.
Written by Currington along with Cary Barlowe, Sam Romans, and Will Weatherly, the mid-tempo track is a nostalgic ode to small-town living, longing for how things used to be in the ever-changing world in which we live.
Lyrically, this is a down-to-earth, picturesque depiction on what we all envision of a typical small town, and how the evolution and commercialization of modern-day society has replaced a lot of the simplicity of life that seems so long ago.
This is a catchy yet subdued approach for Currington, who has scored some of the biggest hits of his career by utilizing irresistibly catchy melodies and sing-along lyrics that are some of the most popular tunes in recent memory. “Everything Is Changing” has some singalong moments, particularly the chorus, but the vibe is one of reminiscence, wistfulness, and a sobering understanding that things have forever changed from what they used to be.
“Funny how one lane turns to four
You get a highway in front of your front door
Parking lots sittin’ where farmers were
I miss the corn, I miss the dirt
A little lost where I was raised
Lookin’ back now on the good ‘ole days
Wish it all would of just stayed the same”
The release of “Everything Is Changing” just weeks ahead of ‘#1’s Volume 1,’ a career-spanning compilation of his chart-topping singles from over the years. Featuring 11 of his biggest tunes to date, the album is due out July 5.
Releasing his self-titled debut album in 2003 and scoring his first #1 in 2005 with the 4X platinum hit “Must Be Doin’ Something Right”, Billy quickly found his niche within the country music industry. Over the next decade, Currington would release some of the biggest fan-favorite tracks in the genre, including “Good Directions,” “People Are Crazy”, “Pretty Good At Drinkin’ Beer”, and “Let Me Down Easy”, among others.
Currington is currently on the road on his coast-to-coast headlining run, as well as appearance at some of the country’s biggest festivals, with dates scheduled through the end of the September.
