CHASE MATTHEW - Saltwater Cinderella - Warner Music Nashville

With what is unarguably one of the strongest grassroot followings in country music today, Warner Music Nashville recording artist Chase Matthew has achieved a tremendous buzz level that is the definition of hard-work, dedication, and continuous efforts to deliver music that strikes the right heart chords.

On the heels of announcing his new EP, Always Be Mine (due on July 4, 2024), Chase now delivers the next glimpse of it with “Saltwater Cinderella.”

Co-written by Matthew, Jacob Rice, Alex Maxwell, and Will Pattat, the song holds to his uniquely branded signatures but intriguingly discovers tweaks within its synth laden melody for an unapologetic risk into new sonic feels while allowing him to display his strong vocal abilities over the top of addictive, sun-kissed lyrics.

“Saltwater Cinderella" is a great example of inspiration striking me in the moment. I wrote that one with close friends as I was headed down to Florida for BMI’s Key West Songwriters Festival. It’s a fun summer song about those girls that love to spend time at the beach. Hope y’all get out on the water and turn it up!” shares Matthew.

Hot as a beach and cool as the wind” he sings on the opening line to instantly set in motion the picture painting lyrics that descriptively flow the attitude of his oceanside girl through each of the verses; “It's sand on her feet little Toby Keith on the radio,” “her kinda paradise is here on the coast,” etc.

Pulling familiarity from the age-old story of Cinderella, Matthew craftily weaves breezy lyrics into the lift of the chorus to expertly capture the comparative aura between her coastal dweller spirit and a take your breath away, fairy tale princess:

“She's a saltwater Cinderella

One kiss is all it takes

When she’s swimming in the water

Heaven ain't far away

She's the beauty queen of the ocean hit you like a tidal wave

Sunshine when it's storming kissing her in the rain

Like a saltwater Cindеrella

My saltwater Cinderеlla

Baby”

For an artist to continuously move forward, they can’t stay totally complacent within the comfort zone of their sound. Amongst the many positive attributes of who Chase Matthew is as a singer, songwriter, and artist, as he’s showing yet again on “Saltwater Cinderella," his willingness to consistently evolve his sound is the key to elevating him to even greater heights.
