MADDIE & TAE - Free Like - Mercury Nashville

Over the years, award-winning duo Maddie & Tae have proven themselves to be a pair of multi-faceted artists, charting hits from the fun, outspoken party tunes to subdued, thought-provoking and emotionally-driven ballads.

Now, the multi-platinum tandem of Maddie Font and Taylor Kerr are back with a brand-new tune, one that echoes the themes of boldness, confidence and self-assurance that will strike an empowering nerve in all of us.  “Free Like” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via Mercury Nashville.

Written by Font, along with Deric Ruttan, Parker Welling and Casey Brown, the new track is a statement of freedom and a proclamation of where the ladies are in their lives and the comfortability they feel in their own skin.  In a space both professionally and personally in which they feel at home, the pair croon and swoon about their self-confidence in how they got where they are now, and their undeniable tenacity has them at an all time high both internally and externally.

“’Free Like’ really represents the freedom we have found and the confidence we have arrived at in this season of life,” they shared.  “Our fans have grown up with us the last decade and our hope is this song makes them feel as empowered as it made us feel writing and recording it.”

This is an anthem of inspiration, motivation, and self-proclamation that we all need at a point in our lives.  It’s a fun song to listen to, to sing along to, and to dance to, but there is an important message prevalent throughout the 3+ minutes of this sure-to-be fan favorite.  After 15 years of friendship and riding the rollercoaster of highs and lows of the music business and life in general, these ladies have found peace and happiness, and they won’t let anyone take that away from them.

“Free like a hippie, free like a fire

Free like a bird on a telephone wire

Free like a Chevy on a don’t look back road

‘Bye Bye My Baby’ on the radio

Head spinnin’ in the dust I leave

Boy, you ain’t ever seen free like me”

“Free Like” follows “Sad Girl Summer”, released in early June.  The ladies have been on the road headlining their nationwide Here’s To Friends Tour, which just added new dates that run through October.  Having first broke onto the scene in 2013 with the bro-country comeback “Girl In A Country Song”, Maddie & Tae haven’t looked back, winning awards, charting singles, and hitting the road with the biggest acts in the business.  With a newfound sense of peace, energy, and creativity, these talented ladies seemed poised to take their career to the next level.
