Kane Brown has been holding fans in high anticipation with teases about a new album project he’s working on – even going so far as to share bits and pieces of songs such as “Leave You Alone” and “I Can’t Love You Anymore.”

Having recently hit the top of the charts with “Famous Friends,” his duet with Chris Young, Brown has now heightened the anticipation his fans already have to an astronomical level with the release of his brand-new single “One Mississippi.”

Written with Levon Gray, a writer that Brown connected with through Instagram, “One Mississippi” chronicles the ups and downs of an on again/off again relationship and sets it to an irresistible melody that taps into a spaghetti western like dusty feel smashed into a modern pop country up-tempo groove that gets you moving along with it.

Brown sets the tone with the opening lines of the song – “you and I had this off and on so long, you’ve been here then you’ve been gone so many times.” But things quickly progress from here as he sings of continuously bumping into her, feeling those old feelings again every time that he does, and starting the whole cycle over again.

There is some great phrasing that appears in the lyrics and really catches the listeners ear, whether it’s when he’s talking about it only being a matter of time before they are back at it again ala the playground like countdown of one Mississippi, two Mississippi, or if it’s when he’s comparing their toxic on again/off again relationship to the Georgia wind in the second verse.

There is a unique feel to this song in comparison to what else is currently on country radio, but in the middle of that uniqueness, “One Mississippi” feels like a completely natural progression for Kane Brown. Expect this song to quickly move up the chart as Brown’s star continues to shine brighter as he opens his next chapter in a BIG BIG way!
