JOE NICHOLS - Doin' Life with You - Quartz Hill Records

Three-time GRAMMY nominated artist Joe Nichols has been a country music mainstay for decades.  Since the release of his debut album in 1996, the Rogers, AR native has captivated the country music world with his catchy hooks, witty lyrics, and relatable subject matter.

Flash forward to 2024, and the multi-platinum country star is set to embark on a new chapter of his career, along with the announcement of the release of a new track.  “Doin’ Life With You” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via Quartz Hill Records/ Stone Country Records.

Written by Jimmy Yeary, the new tune serves as the second preview of the forthcoming record, following the critically-lauded “Bottle It Up”.

From start to finish, “Doin’ Life With You” is a down-to-earth, real-life love story.  Separating itself from the fairytale versions of a happily-ever-after, Nichols’ latest tune is an account of how many of us experience our love story.  Life is tough and involves many ebbs and flows, ups and downs, trials and triumphs, but at the end of the day, what makes it beautiful is experiencing those moments with the one that means the most to you.  It’s an unapologetically-honest tribute to a-forever-kind-of-love that we all strive for and we should all appreciate.

A mid-tempo guitar intro leads the listener into the first verse, as Nichols croons his way through the everyday highs and lows of a middle-class life.  As has been his path to consistent success over the years, the music blurs the lines of traditional and modern country music, intertwining elements of each to appeal to listeners of all ages and styles.

Lyrically, “Doin’ Life With You” is simple yet memory-resonating poetic effort, with the straightforward approach putting the listener right in the heart and mind of the songwriter, with Nichols’ vocal delivery is perfectly on-point to set up the tone and vibe throughout the track.

“I love the babies and the crazies

And I think I’m drowning save me’s

Morning talks and coffee cups

Silly fights and making up

Happy tears and up all nights

And every year seeing your laugh lines grow

I love them front porch sundown days

The prayers that didn’t go our way

Every memory here in my rearview

All the lows and the highs

Girl, I love doin’ life with you”

Set for release on October 25th, ‘Honky Tonks and Country Songs’ will be Nichols’ 11th career studio album, featuring both “Doin’ Life With You” and the aforementioned “Bottle It Up”.  All in all, the 11-track collection will provide a variety of tracks spanning the genre-confines of mood, melody, and influence.

“My job is to make people feel good,” Nichols said about the new album.  “And sometimes that means with fun and happy songs, and other times with sad and sorrowful truths.  But the goal is always to make them feel good.  This album is meant to do exactly that.  Everyone can find a good time in a honky tonk and a country song”.

Nichols currently has dates scheduled from coast to coast into the fall and winter, with a few announced for 2025 as well.  With the impending release of “Honky Tonks and Country Songs” coming in late October, we can expect and look forward to more releases and more tour date announcements in the coming months.
