KANE BROWN - Backseat Driver - RCA Records Nashville
Kane Brown is gearing up for the release of his highly-anticipated new album in early 2025. And after teasing us over the past few weeks, the country superstar has released a sentimental new song to the masses. “Backseat Driver” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via RCA Records Nashville.
A tune for the sentimental side in all of us, “Backseat Driver” takes a look at the world through the eyes of a young child while in the backseat of a car. Full of innocence and wonder, a child’s mind is a place from which we can all learn to see the world again.
The down-to-earth, charmingly innocent lyrics take the listener back to past experiences and conversations while also introducing us all to the simplicities in life that we often take for granted. The thoughtfully-delicate musical arrangement is an endearingly-perfect backdrop for the thought-provoking lyrics that appropriately cultivate the song’s spotlight.
“Daddy, look there’s a plane in the sky
Are we there yet? Did you just see that dog run by?
Do squirrels have houses in the trees?
Why’d God put stingers on honeybees?’
It’s crazy all the things she sees on the side of the road
Out of that window beside her
I wish I could be more like her
My little dangling feet, pretty in pink, backseat driver”
This is an endearing, touching song that will strike a personally-emotional chord with any of us with children. The tune is accompanied by the official music video, which features loveable clips of Kane along with his daughters Kingsley Rose and Kodi Jane.
Featured on Brown’s new album, ‘The High Road’, “Backseat Driver” follows his current top five hit “Miles On It”, featuring Marshmello, the #1 song “I Can Feel It” as well as “Fiddle In The Band”. The 18-track project is slated for a January 24th release, and is already one of the most highly-anticipated records of the early part of the new year.
Earlier this month, Brown announced the details of his headlining The High Road Tour. The trek will kick off March 13th and hit arenas across country through late May with special quests Mitchell Tenpenny, Scotty McCreery, Ashley Cooke, and Dasha appearing on select dates. Kane is also scheduled to appear at the Buckeye Country Superfest on June 21st and the Windy City Smokeout on July 10th.
