KARLEY SCOTT COLLINS - American Boy - Sony Music Nashville
Karley Scott Collins first stepped into the country music spotlight in 2023, and since then, the Lake City, FL native has made a name for herself as a singer-songwriter with a rare combination of powerhouse vocal delivery and soulful, gritty musical approach. The talented songstress has released her first new tune of 2025, one that will shine an even brighter light on why she is one of the fastest-rising young artists in the genre.
“American Boy” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via Sony Music Group.
Co-written by Collins along with Alex Kline and Joybeth Taylor, and co-produced with Nathan Chapman, the tune highlights her immediate interest with someone new, as she confesses her affection and celebrates those features and traits to which she is undeniably attracted. As is the case with most of her music, the inspiration for “American Boy” was drawn from a personal experience.
“I wrote this song about a night that I walked into a room, saw someone, and instantly thought ‘I have to know this person,’” Collins said. “I’ve always had a thing for old school James Dean-type person who maybe has some tattoos, maybe ridges a motorcycle. There was something about the electricity the first time we made eye contract that made me want to write a song.”
Since her move to Nashville, Collins has worked with some of the best songwriters in town as she continues to hone her craft and take her career to the next level. With the look, sound and talent that checks every box, Karley is undeniably one of the bright new faces to watch in country music as she continues to churn out top-end tracks, and “American Boy is no different.
In true country music fashion, the lyrics are poignant and storytelling in nature, while Karley’s vocals are incredibly controlled and powerful as she croons her way through the ebbs and flows of the mid-tempo track, perfectly capturing the song’s emotion and vibe.
“His heart’s on his sleeve in that tattoo
My daddy don’t like it but I do
He’s a Levi jeans, real McCoy
Yeah I think I’m in love with an American boy
Damn, if he didn’t make me a believer
Like the first time Springsteen on the speakers
Found a freedom in the sound of his voice
Yeah, I think I’m in love with an American boy”
Serving as her first release of the year, “American Boy” follows standout singles “Religion and Politics” and “Quit You”, as well as “How Do You Do That” featuring Charles Kelley, and fan favorite “Marlboro Reds” as noteworthy tracks that have put her on the mainstream country map.
Poised for another career-altering year in 2025, Collins will join Morgan Wade for select dates of her OBSESSED TOUR European leg, performing in the Netherlands, U.K., and Ireland. Collins was also recently announced as an opener on Keith Urban’s 2025 HIGH AND ALIVE TOUR across the U.S. and Canada. Kicking off May 22 in Orange Beach, AL, Collins will support on more than 40 dates.
