SHANE PROFITT - Penny To My Name - Triple Tigers Records
Fast-rising artist Shane Profitt is poised for a career-altering year, and the singer-songwriting southerner has released his first new tune of 2025. “Penny To My Name” is available now, both digitally and on all streaming platforms, via Triple Tigers Records.
Written by Profitt along with McCoy Moore and Phil O’Donnell and produced by Trent Willmon, this is an ode to an old-school way of life, one that Shane lived and relates to through memories and still through his every-day life.
“Growing up in Columbia, Tennessee we didn’t have much, but that didn’t mean we weren’t rich in our own ways,” Profitt said. “Family, friends, and the memories we made were more than enough to fill our own banks. That’s what this song is about, feeling like you have the world in your hands even when you don’t have a penny to your name.”
The mid-tempo track provides the perfect backdrop for the honest, story-telling nature of the lyrics expressed through Profitt’s masterfully powerfully gruff vocal delivery. The tune ebbs and flows in all the right places, emphasizing the key moments of each verse and chorus while showcasing the lyrical significance highlighted through his control, power, and emotional bravado.
“Happy as a tick on an old coon dog
Lower middle class, living high on a hog
Hot off a smoker, soaking through a paper plate
I wore hand-me-down denim from my big brother
Money don’t matter when you got each other
In a home full of love in the good old glory days
I made million-dollar memories when I didn’t have a penny to my name”
The Columbia, TN emerging artist has a hard-nosed, work to the grind mentality and that ethic is projected through his music and his on-stage demeanor. It’s a trait that not all singer-songwriters have and something that is truly unique in today’s country music. It is one thing to tell the stories…it’s an entirely other thing to have lived the moments that you are singing about. Shane Profitt is a living example of how hard work and talent can lead to achieving your dreams.
Profitt has been making a name for himself as a captivating performer with an upfront writing style paired with a robust sound. His 2023 Top 15 radio hit “How It Oughta Be” struck a chord with fans and the country music industry – solidifying Profitt as an authentic artist who has something to say and a killer voice to deliver it. The aforementioned “How It Ougtha Be” is part of Shane’s three-song EP titled ‘Maury County Line’, also featuring the tunes “Better Off Fishin’” and “Guys Like Me,” the latter which was co-written by country music star Chris Janson.
Serving as his first release of the year and poised to take his career to even great heights, “Penny To My Name” promises to be the first of much more new music he plans to share with the world in 2025.
