CONNER SMITH - Smoky Mountains - The Valory Music Co.

It in his still-incredibly young career, Conner Smith has already garnered praise amongst artists and fans alike for his natural approach to songwriting, which has showcased his ability to put a unique twist on common topics.  And as he is currently still enjoying the popular rise of his single “Creek Will Rise” as well as the follow-up tune, “How It Looks From Here,” the 23 year old continues to add to his impressive musical catalogue with the release of his new track, “Smoky Mountains.”

Co-written by Smith along with Zach Crowell, the song is the title track for the Valory Music Co. recording artist’s debut album, due out in January.  The song serves as a backdrop for what fans can expect from the upcoming record’s collective theme, and came to the singer-songwriter naturally and organically, as most of his music has in the past.

“There’s an image in my head that’s so inspiring,” Smith said.  “You got your family and your best friends, drinking some whiskey on a front porch, picking a banjo.  And then as I was writing it, it really became a sense of longing, because this whole year has been about being gone an infinite amount, traveling and chasing the dream.”

This is a fun song, showcasing a “porch pickin’” vibe, complete with boot-stomping tendencies and a laid back jam session.  As has been the trend with Conner’s other tunes, “Smoky Mountains” embraces the marriage between traditional and contemporary, inviting listeners of all disciplines and interests to sing along.  The lyrics are cadenced and charismatically relatable, while the instrumental accompaniment takes the tune to another level.

“Sing me a song of the Smoky Mountains

And I’ll be home by the sun

Get up and dance, while the fiddle is shoutin’

‘Cause darlin’, my work is almost done”

Conner Smith is not just a songwriter; he’s not just a performer; he’s not just a singer.  He is a true music artist.  With the natural ability and talent paired with an unquestioned work ethic and drive to hone his craft, the sky is the limit for someone still so young but so wise and experienced beyond his years.

It has been a career-changing year for Smith in 2023, as he has been on the road from coast to coast while sharing the stage with some of the hottest names in the business, from Luke Bryan to Cole Swindell to Jordan Davis.  Having kicked off the second leg of his CREEK WILL RISE TOUR earlier this month, Conner seems poised to take his career to the next level as he drops his debut album and an expected extended tour in 2024.
