Over the years, there have undoubtedly, unquestionably, and obviously been a large array of changes that have taken place across the entire musical spectrum, including the country music genre.  The musical stereotypes that have long characterized the mood and feel of a song’s lyrics are long gone, and with every new generation of country music, we see the continued adaptation of boundaries and barriers being torn down.

Jordan James has released a brand-new tune titled “Truckin’ Around”.  Without hearing the song, based strictly on the title, one wouldn’t even begin to imagine that this could be a breakup song.  And THAT is what makes this song worth a listen, a stream, and an acknowledgement of James as a promising up-and-coming independent artist.

This is a self-proclaimed “fun take” on a breakup song.  Sad, slow, music with somber undertones has long characterized the breakup song in country music history, but over recent years, we have seen a transition.  “Truckin’ Around” is a perfect example of this new found perspective on heartache.  It’s an upbeat, energetic, sing-along tune from start to finish, complete with his brand of “edgy country” which he is becoming known for in the underground country music circuit.

The Atlanta, GA native co-wrote the song with Jeff Garrison and Greg Bates.  The goal was to have a little fun with a more serious topic.  Heartbreak and breakups are things that everyone endures, but it doesn’t always have to taken so seriously or handled so delicately and emotionally.

Jordan’s music career has taken him from Georgia to Los Angeles to Nashville, and his influences along the way have all found their way into his music.  Having garnered noteworthy success as a songwriter, with his tunes being recorded by the likes of Andy Grammer and Hailee Steinfeld, he made the move to Music City and returned to his country music roots.

James is far from a traditional country artist, intertwining elements of rock, blues, and everything in between with the goal of creating a sound all his own.  With songs like “Truckin’ Around”, he is making a name for himself as a creative songwriter, prepped to blur the lines of subject matter,  lyrical undertones, and long-accepted musical stereotypes while having a lot of fun along the way.
